Senior Citizens Christmas Buffet lunch at Runwell Village Hall.
60 Wickford residents were entertained and provided with a Christmas buffet lunch provided by the Town Council.
Saturday 22 November 2025Christmas Lights Switch on
The festive lighting in the High Street is funded by the Town Council. A number of motifs are attached to street lamp columns and a real Christmas Tree is provided on the corner of Market Road.
This year’s lights were switched on by the Chair of the Town Council, Councillor Andrew Neil assisted by Father Christmas from the Wickford Rotary Club.

Spooky High Street Market
Our Wickford Market took on a spooky feel in the High Street
Street Fest High Street Market 27 September
Held in Wickford High Street and the Underpass
The Street Fest Market brought the High Street to life with a vibrant market featuring a fantastic variety of food, drink, craft and regular traders. Families enjoyed free face painting and balloon modelling entertainment adding fun for the children and a lively atmosphere throughout the day. The event also marked the unveiling of the Wickford Art Project with artwork supplied by Runwell Art Club, celebrating local creativity and community pride.
Bar n Bus Teenage events – July and August 2025
Held at Market Lane
In partnership with Bar ‘n’ Bus the Town Council supported a weekly drop-in for young people throughout the summer holidays. These sessions provided a safe and welcoming place for young residents to hang out, get advice and enjoy activities such as the football cage, big screen FIFA gaming and snacks.
Summer Fun at Wickford Memorial Park – July and August 2025
Every Wednesday afternoon during the school summer holidays, families enjoyed a series of free events, activities included:
- Punch & Judy Show
- Face painting
- Moji Childrens Entertainer
- Go Bonkers Inflatable fun
- Moonbeamers Kids Cinema
These sessions brought laughter and excitement to the park each week – a highlight of the summer for local children.
George Michael tribute act at Wickford Memorial Park 12 July 2025
Residents gathered for an evening of live music as a fantastic George Michael tribute act took the stage. The event offered great music, food and drink stalls and a fun community atmosphere – the perfect summer night out in Wickford.
Punch and Judy at Wickford Memorial Park 28 May 2025
The first of our Summer Fun sessions took place on a sunny May afternoon, with families gathering for free activities and entertainment. In a picnic style setting. Children enjoyed Punch & Judy and face painting.
VE Day afternoon tea at the Wick Community Centre 9 May 2025
Residents came together for a tradition Afternoon Tea in recognition of VE Day. Guests enjoyed sandwiches, cakes, scones and a live singer, a warm, nostalgic atmosphere was created which reflected the community spirit of the era.
VE Day beacon lighting and parade at Wickford Memorial Park 8 May 2025
Wickford joined communities across the nation to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a special beacon lighting ceremony. The evening featured live wartime music, a community gathering at the Memorial Park and the lighting of the Wickford Beacon at 9.30pm to honour those who served and to celebrate peace in Europe.
